AACD0132 The Band: And Then There Were Four. Excellent 1983 live radio broadcast from The Mandel Hall from the band’s first re-union tour following their public split in 1976. The album title refers to the absence of Robbie Robertson but the other four original members run through some of their recorded classics, a few covers plus a previously unrecorded Rick Danko song, Java Blues.

A fully restored live set from August 1964 in Ohio supported by his band, the Lonely Blue Boys, featuring a major artist at the crossroads between his rock and roll past and country future. Includes tracks never recorded in the studio alongside his big numbers, this new cleaned up recording is a substantial advance on the poorly edited and underwhelming sound quality that first appeared on vinyl editions in the late 1970s.

BLM0510 Leo Welch: I Don’t Prefer No Blues. Follow-up to the mightily impressive debut Sabougla Voices (BLM0287), an all-gospel recording from a sprightly 82 year old. On his second album Leo casts his net wider on a variety of blues sides, retaining his winning old-school North Mississippi hill country blues style that he has played in the juke joints for years.

BLM0299 Cecil Barfield: The George Mitchell Collection. Vinyl only release from Fat Possum off-shoot, this includes 12 recordings captured in 1976 by Georgia country bluesman, and one of Mitchell’s favourites from among the many legends he came across during his years in field recording. Includes versions of songs of JB Lenoir,  Frankie Lee Sims, Tommy McLennan and others as well as some of his own striking compositions.
