88875081952 Miles Davis: At Newport - Bootleg Series Vol 4. The latest instalment of celebrated live recordings, this chronicles his appearances at various Newport Jazz Festivals between 1955-1975. Featuring the best performances from eight appearances, this provides further proof (as if it were needed) of his evolving genius across 40 tracks (26 of which were previously unreleased).

CDTOP2 1449 Various: Unlock The Lock - The Kent Records Story 1958-1962. Latest in fabulous series of releases focussed on the subsidiary labels owned by the Bihari Brothers. Previous releases have focused on RPM (two volumes - CDTOP2 1406 and CDTOP2 1421) and Flair (CDTOP2 1382), and this includes 48 stunning sides from its Kent imprint. Big names include B.B. King, Etta James, Jimmy Witherspoon, Bobby Bland and Hadda Brooks but this set also includes plenty of less well-known names (such as Artie Wilson, Billy Ray, The Newports and more). As before, this set focuses on alternate takes and previously unreleased sides and, as always with Ace, includes a detailed and impressive booklet.

HHCD008 B.B. King: United Western Recorders, Hollywood, L. A. - 1st October 1972. Entire set of 75 minutes recorded for radio broadcast. 14 tracks from across his career to date.

HHCD011 Weather Report: 8:30 Live. FM radio broadcast of a live 1980 performance from Fox Theatre, Atlanta Georgia.

HH2CD004 Lee Morgan: Both/And Club, San Francisco - 1970. Captured live in the summer of 1970 prior to the release of the legendary Live At The Lighthouse album.  Fantastic jazz led by trumpet master, recorded for radio broadcast.

HH2CD012 Miles Davis: Live In Tokyo 1975. An entire performance from a FM radio broadcast of January 22nd at Shinjuku Kohseinenkin Hall. Some of the more searing, electric jazz fusion he ever played live.

HH2CD016 Horace Silver: Live At The Half Note. Superb sides from live performances in New York, recorded for radio broadcast and prominently featuring material from his classic 1965 album, Song For My Father. Includes contributions from Woody Shaw on trumpet.

JASCD936 Wilson Pickett & The Falcons: The Midnight Mover - The Early Years 1957-1962. Pretty much a follow up to JASCD223 (The  Falcons - You’re So Fine 1956-1961), this picks up the story as Wilson Pickett becomes more and more the featured vocalist and star in the making.


570078/79 Ahmad Jamal: Live In Marciac - August 5th 2014. Sumptuous jazz pianist on a lovely set, including a tribute to Horace Silver whose death had been announced a few days prior to the performance. The DVD includes a bonus track not on the CD.
